Yarra Bend Park, Melbourne

The 2.6-square-km Yarra Bend Park, named after a dramatic bend of the Yarra River, is Melbourne’s largest inner-city park and is located just 4 km northeast of Melbourne CBD. The river bends sharply around high basalt cliffs in the park, creating distinctive natural landforms, steep native bushland slopes, and river flats.

The Yarra River separates Yarra Bend Park into the south and north sides. Kane’s Bridge is a key pedestrian bridge that connects Studley Park (southern side) to the northern Yarra Bend Park side across the Yarra River.

Dights Falls are geologically natural falls that were structurally modified from 1839 onwards, originally for diverting water for water-powered milling and later for stabilising river flow, controlling upstream water levels, and providing fish passage to migrate upstream.
