Walk by the Waters: Daan Forest Park 大安森林公園, Taipei, Taiwan

Daan Forest Park 大安森林公園

The 26-hectare Daan Forest Park is the largest urban park in central Taipei, a densely populated city.   Daan Forest Park is often referred to as the “lungs of Taipei” due to its extensive green space, lush grassy areas, abundant trees, and well-maintained walking paths. It is one of the most popular places in Taipei City for relaxation, exercise, and community activities.

The large ecological pond in the park is designed to support urban wildlife and serve as a site for ecological education. Visitors can enjoy close-up views of vibrant wildlife – ducks, turtles, fish, and many species of birds – creating a seamless connection between education and experience.

Another notable feature is its location above Daan Park Metro Station, making it one of the most convenient parks to reach by public transport.

The Walk

Take the subway to Daan Park Metro Station, and the park is located above the station. Walk in any direction on the walking paths in the park, and be sure to follow the boardwalks and paths around the ecological pond. Stop at the viewing platform to enjoy watching the ducks, turtles, fish, and many species of birds.
