Luodong Forestry Culture Park 羅東林業文化園區
Located about a short 10-minute walk from Luodong Train Station, Luodong Forestry Culture Park stands out as one of Yilan County’s most interesting historical parks. Originally a major logging and timber processing base, the site received logs via a special forest railway and distributed processed forestry products along rivers. After large-scale logging was stopped by the government, operations ceased in the 1980s. Since then, the site has been converted into a large cultural park that combines history, ecology, and forestry heritage.
The large pond, previously used to store floating logs before processing, is now an eco-pond with wildlife habitats. Visitors can also see many preserved industrial relics, including old forest railway tracks, steam locomotives, log-transport wagons, unloading platforms, as well as a forestry agency office, workers’ dormitories, warehouses, and inspection garages, all of which are preserved as exhibition halls and cultural spaces.
The popular park attracts approximately 800,000–1,000,000 visitors annually.
