Matilda Bay Reserve
Matilda Bay Reserve is just a 5-minute drive from Perth CBD and is adjacent to the University of Western Australia (UWA) in the Crawley suburb by the Swan River. The reserve is a 1.5km-long thin strip of peaceful grassed parkland with shady trees between Hackett Drive and the Swan River and extends from Mount Bay Road to Pelican Point.
Being so close to UWA, the reserve is popular with students as well as a variety of visitors including walkers, joggers, cyclists, picnickers, swimmers, and water sports lovers. This is a perfect place to relax, and enjoy the picturesque Swan River and Perth city view over the water. It is no wonder so many students and workers like to have their lunch here. What a way to recharge for the rest of the busy day.
It is also obvious to see why this reserve is a popular spot for social gatherings and family picnic outings.
This is not a huge reserve, and if you feel energised and want to walk or jog a longer distance, you may continue on to JH Abrahams Reserve and Paul Hasluck Reserve. Check out the “Walk or Jog by the Swan River: JH Abrahams Reserve-Paul Hasluck Reserve” blog.
However, if you feel like slowing down and having a coffee, then try Bayside Kitchen. This riverside bistro cafe overlooks the picturesque Swan River.
