Watsons Bay
The lovely harbourside suburb of Watsons Bay in Sydney is located on the southern head of Sydney Harbour’s entrance.
A 15 km northeast of Sydney city centre and a 25-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay, Watsons Bay is a very popular visitors’ destination for its natural beauty, holiday vide, relaxing swimming beaches, and many scenic walking coastal trails. Visitors can also swim and sunbathe at the Watsons Bay Baths, an enclosed harbour pool with great views not far from the Watsons Bay Wharf.
The huge Robertson Park, just outside the Watsons Bay Wharf, is on elevated ground, offering great views of the Watsons Bay waterfront and the Sydney city skyline in the distance. The park is the perfect place for a picnic lunch and a rest spot.
The best way to get to Watsons Bay is not to drive but to take the ferry from Circular Quay. The scenic ferry ride offers great views of Sydney Harbour and many beautiful harbourside suburbs such as Potts Point, Darling Point, Point Piper, and Rose Bay before arriving at Watsons Bay.
The Walk
You may start your walk from Watsons Bay Wharf, assuming you arrive from Circular Quay on a ferry.
From the ferry jetty, walk in the northern direction to Watsons Bay beach, then back to Robertson Park just outside the ferry jetty. Walk in the park, and then take the walkways on the waterfront in the southern direction to walk past Vaucluse Yacht Club to reach Watsons Bay Baths.
Slow down, take a seat at the seating area at the waterfront walkways or in Robertson Park, enjoy a coffee break, and have a picnic lunch.
