Tamsui 淡水
Tamsui 淡水 is a seaside district (Tamsui District 淡水区) in New Taipei City 新北市 by the Tamsui River 淡水河 overlooking Taiwan Strait 台湾海峡. Bali District 八里区 can be seen across the Tamsui River northwest of Tamsui.
Even though officially located within New Taipei City, Tamsui is only a 45-minute Taipei MRT 台北捷运 train ride from Taipei city centre. Tamsui is a popular destination for Taiwanese as well as tourists for its Tamsui Old Street 淡水老街 with shops selling all kinds of delicious Taiwanese snacks 台湾小吃. The magnificent views over the Tamsui River, especially in the morning and evening, also draw visitors to Tamsui.
The Walk – Golden Riverside 金色水岸
Take the Taipei MRT to Tamsui Station 淡水站 and take Exit 3 and then cross Zhongzheng Road 中正路 to walk towards Tamsui River. Continue on the riverside walking path and you will be on the Golden Riverside 金色水岸 pedestrian walking path.
Take the time to enjoy the river views. Continue for about 750m to reach Tamsui Ferryboat Wharf 淡水渡船码头. Walk to Tamsui Old Street and taste the delicious snacks.
