Balmain East, located on the eastern end of the Balmain peninsula in Sydney Harbour, is a suburb in Sydney’s Inner West, just 3 km from the Sydney CBD. Balmain East has a population of around 2000 people and is considered a wealthy suburb with residents earning higher incomes than other Sydney suburbs.

Balmain East ferry wharf, on the Balmain East foreshore, has regular ferry services to Barangaroo, Circular Quay, and Darling Harbour.
To drive from the Sydney CBD, it takes 15 minutes to drive through Pyrmont suburb, then on the ANZAC Bridge, and then through Balmain suburb before heading east on Darling Street to reach Balmain East foreshore. The most interesting and scenic journey to get from Sydney CBD to Balmain East foreshore is really on a ferry from Circular Quay.

You may start your walk from Balmain East ferry wharf, assuming you arrive from Circular Quay on a ferry.
Take the coastal walks connecting Thornton Park, Illoura Reserve, and Peacock Point Reserve, and enjoy the views of Sydney Harbour and Harbour Bridge over the water.
The one-way distance between Thornton Park and Peacock Point Reserve by the foreshore walking path is approximately 500 m.
