Walk by the Waters: Sentosa Island, Singapore

Sentosa Island

The 5-square-km Sentosa Island, located just a 15-minute drive from Singapore CBD, is packed with many attractions and more attractions are being built to bring new and returned visitors to this island resort getaway.

There are 2 golf courses, a deep-water yachting marina, resort hotels, sandy beaches, theme parks such as Universal Studios, Fort Siloso Skywalk, Bungy Jump Skybridge, and many more attractions, as well as many entertainment, dining, and shopping venues.

There are many modes of transport to get to and to get around within the island such as monorail Sentosa Express, Singapore Cable Car, taxis, cars, coaches, beach shuttles, bicycles, or by foot.

As well, Sentosa Island has some 2000 prestige oceanfront homes on the eastern side of the island, well kept away from tourists and visitors to the island.

Fort Siloso Skywalk

Fort Siloso Skywalk on the northern end of Sentosa Island is a scenic 11-storey high and 181 m long treetop trek that has a walking path leading to Fort Siloso.  It is only within 100m of Siloso Beach and has direct lift access.  The Skywalk has magnificent panoramic views of part of Sentosa Island, the southern part of Singapore Island, and the South China Sea.

Palawan Island

Palawan Island, connected to Palawan Beach via a suspension bridge, has 2 viewing towers providing great views of the Palawan Beach area, part of Sentosa Island, and the South China Sea.

Notably, both Fort Siloso Skywalk and Palawan Island are free attractions.

The Walk

Taking a walk between Palawan Beach and Siloso Beach to visit these 2 attractions is a great way to see and experience Sentosa Island.

You may start at any point between Palawan Beach and Siloso Beach depending on the mode of transport you take to get there – whether by Cable Car which ends at Siloso Beach station, by Sentosa Express which stops at Beach Station between the 2 beaches, by beach shuttles which have stops at both beaches, or in a car.

You may follow the Beach Walk trails or walk on the beach if you can and if you have beach access (some parts of the beach may be closed to pedestrians).

The one-way distance between Fort Siloso Skywalk and Palawan Island is about 2 km.

If you want to avoid the hot and humid Singapore weather, early mornings and evenings are the best times for taking this walk.
