Wallis Lake

Wallis Lake is enormous and has an area of 98.7 square km which is bigger than Sydney Harbour which has an area of 55 square km.

80% of the New South Wales state’s commercial crabs come from Wallis Lake and Wallis Lake is the biggest New South Wales (NSW) state producer of Sydney Rock Oysters.

Wallis Lake comes alive in the summer months with visitors coming for boating, fishing, paddling, swimming, and all other water sports and beach activities.

You may take a Wallis Lake cruise to see for yourself just how big Wallis Lake is.

The Walk

The walk along walking paths by the bank of Wallis Lake from Destination Barrington Coast Visitor Centre to Forster Breakwater offers magnificent views of the clear blue water of Wallis Lake, Miles Island in the lake, the beach, the sandbank, and the shorelines of Tuncurry on the other side of Wallis Lake connected by the Forster-Tuncurry Bridge.

You will walk past boatsheds lining the bank, underneath Forster-Tuncurry Bridge, John Holland Park, Forster Boat Ramp, and Marine Rescue NSW before reaching Forster Breakwater.  There is no need to cross any car road.

The one-way distance between Destination Barrington Coast Visitor Centre and Forster Breakwater is approximately 1.5 km.
