Boorloo Bridge
Perth’s new iconic landmark, Boorloo Bridge, is a dedicated pedestrian and cycling bridge that connects McCallum Park on the Victoria Park foreshore in the southeast to Point Fraser on the East Perth foreshore in the northwest, via Heirisson Island, over the Swan River. From Point Fraser, walkers and cyclists can continue to reach Perth city centre.
The 6m-wide bridge, located 90m away from the Causeway Bridge, has been built to divert the pedestrian and cycling traffic away from the much narrower pedestrian and cycling path of the Causeway Bridge.
Boorloo Bridge comprises 2 sections connected by the pedestrian and cycle path across Heirisson Island. The total length of Boorloo Bridge from McCallum Park to Point Fraser is approximately 1km.
The bridge features 17,130 state-of-the-art architectural LED light units integrated into the Boorloo Bridge’s stay cable system. Each LED light is individually controlled, allowing the creation of a huge, sophisticated digital canvas with colour, movement, and imagery, providing visitors a unique visual experience from sunset to midnight daily. The addition of the Boorloo Bridge has truly changed the Perth CBD skyline.
The rich Whadjuk Noongar culture and history have been embedded into the design of Boorloo Bridge and the many unique public artworks on display around the bridge. Boorloo is the Noongar name for Perth.
