The Gap, Watsons Bay
The lovely harbourside suburb of Watsons Bay in Sydney is located on the southern head of Sydney Harbour’s entrance. It is 15 km northeast of Sydney city centre and a 25-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay. The best way to get to Watsons Bay is not to drive but to take the Watson Bay ferry from Circular Quay. The scenic ferry ride offers great views of Sydney Harbour, many marinas, and beautiful harbourside suburbs such as Potts Point, Darling Point, Point Piper, and Rose Bay before arriving at Watsons Bay.
The Gap, a short walk from Watsons Bay Wharf across Robertson Park, is a well-known scenic landmark popular with tourists and locals in Watson Bay. The Gap is famous for its dramatic cliffs, stunning rock formations, and breathtaking panorama views of the Tasman Sea on one side, and Sydney Harbour on the other.
The Walk
You may start your walk from Watsons Bay Wharf, assuming you arrive from Circular Quay on a ferry. The Gap is just around 300m from Watsons Bay Wharf in the eastern direction across Robertson Park. The Gap Lookout is where you will first arrive.
From the Gap Lookout, you will follow the cliffside Gap Bluff Walking Track either in the northern direction to Gap Bluff Viewing Platform or in the southern direction to Old South Head Road. The one-way distance on Gap Bluff Walking Track between Gap Bluff Viewing Platform and Old South Head Road is approximately 1 km.
You will enjoy the breathtaking panorama views of the Tasman Sea on the one side and Sydney Harbour on the other side during your walk.
