Walk by The Indian Ocean: Scarborough Beach

Scarborough Beach

Located at just a 20-minute drive north-west of Perth CBD at the end of Scarborough Beach Road, Scarborough Beach is in the suburb of Scarborough within the City of Stirling local government area (LGA).

White sand and big waves along with lifeguards all year round make Scarborough Beach a favourite location for surfing, swimming, and water sports.

The revitalised Scarborough foreshore

The Scarborough foreshore underwent a huge redevelopment project.  The revitalised Scarborough foreshore opened to the public in 2018.  The redevelopment has definitely enhanced the popularity of Scarborough Beach as a favourite iconic beach destination for Perth residents as well as interstate and international visitors.

The revitalised Scarborough foreshore has added a beachfront swimming complex (Scarborough Beach Pool), an amphitheatre (Scarborough Amphitheatre), a skate and BMX facility (“Snake Pit”), a bouldering wall, a new playground and play space for families (Whale Playground), huge grassed areas including Sunset Hill where visitors can enjoy watching the sun setting into the Indian Ocean, lookout platforms to look out over the Indian Ocean and Scarborough Beach, a new square ideal for markets and public events (Scarborough Square, where the Clock Tower is located), public toilets, showers, drinking fountains, picnic shelters, public BBQ’s, fitness/exercise equipment, plenty of car parks, and a new transit hub.  Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club has its new facilities here too.

The Walk

Start anywhere at the Scarborough foreshore and walk on walking paths connecting all the sights including Scarborough Beach Pool, Scarborough Square, Clock Tower, Scarborough Amphitheatre, Snake Pit, Sunset Hill, Whale Playground, and Scarborough Reserve.  Enjoy the breeze from the Indian Ocean and watch the visitors enjoying their beach outings.
