Ocean Reef Boat Harbour
Located at just a 35-minute drive north of Perth CBD, Ocean Reef is a coastal suburb within the City of Joondalup. Ocean Reef Boat Harbour is located within the Ocean Reef suburb.
The boat harbour, a popular place for boat launching, has 5 adjacent boat ramps and a large car park accessed via Boat Harbour Quays off Ocean Reef Road.
Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue Group and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club facilities are located at the northern end of the boat harbour.
While not as popular as Mullaloo Beach and Sorrento Beach, Ocean Reef Boat Harbour and Ocean Reef beach have accessible toilets, a barbecue facility, and picnic areas for an enjoyable family beach outing. There are 3 small beaches, 1 beach at the south of the boat ramps, and there other 2 beaches are at the north of the boat ramps. Being shielded from the breakwaters, the water here is calm without strong waves and is quite safe for young kids to swim.
Ocean Reef Marina
By the end of 2023, the Ocean Reef waterfront will be dramatically transformed by the Ocean Reef Marina project which is now in progress of construction.
Ocean Reef Marina project will create a waterfront precinct consisting of a mix of waterfront cafes and restaurants, retail, hotel, and short-stay accommodation, as well as Perth’s first coastal pool, new protected beach, and community parklands. Once completed, the waterfront precinct will no doubt be a popular destination for locals and visitors.
As part of the Ocean Reef Marina project, Whitfords Volunteer Sea Rescue Group and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club facilities will be relocated into new marine facilities which include boat ramps, boat pens, boat stackers, and trailer parking.
The construction of the southern and northern 2km-long breakwaters to protect boats and users within the new marina has been recently completed.
The Walk
The large car park on the elevated ground offers a good top-down view of the boat ramps, the beach, and the breakwaters.
Start from the car park and take a walk on the small beach areas south and north of the boat ramps. And don’t miss the beautiful beach further north from the boat ramps near the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club. Enjoy the breeze from the Indian Ocean and watch the boat launching activities at the boat ramps.
