Lesmurdie Falls

Walk By The Water: Lesmurdie Falls , Perth

Lesmurdie Falls

Falls is surprisingly just a 30-minute drive from Perth CBD in the scenic Perth Hills and it is very accessible for a good walking experience by a waterfall.

Top to Foot of the Falls Walking Trail

There are several walking trails but if you want to keep close to Lesmurdie Falls, then try the walking trail from the top of the Falls to the foot of the Falls.

Park your car at the Lesmurdie Falls Car Park at Falls Road.   This walking trail is well defined and adequately signed.  Some parts of this 1 km (one-way) walking trail are undulating and rocky however the walk is considered moderately easy.  Wear a pair of sturdy shoes, put on a hat and sunscreen, and bring water with you.

Allow for one hour two-way at an easy walk pace.  Do allow time to sit and enjoy the view of the Falls while at the base of the Falls.  Maybe have a picnic.

The lookout platforms at the top of the Falls provide a good view of the Falls, the Swan Coastal Plain (i.e. the low-lying area around the Swan River and the Indian Ocean), and Perth city.   Check out the “love locks” placed on the lookout platforms by lovers who pledge their love here.

To get to the foot of the Falls, follow the signs and the trail down to reach Lesmurdie Brook.  Then turn right and follow the trail alongside the stream to the base of Lesmurdie Falls.

Sit down on the rocks by the Falls and enjoy the view of the Falls, the sound of water, and the cool air.  Follow the same trail back up to the top of the Falls.

Other Walking Trails

Lower Lesmurdie Falls Car Park at Palm Terrace is closer to the foot of the Falls.  If you just want to visit the foot of the Falls, park your car here and take a short walk.
