Tomato Lake

Walk by The Water: Tomato Lake, Perth

Tomato Lake and Tomato Lake Reserve

Tomato Lake is located in the City of Belmont and is a popular walking destination with the locals living in the nearby Belmont, Kewdale, and Rivervale suburbs.  A 20-minute drive away from Perth CBD, Tomato Lake is very accessible to people working and living close to Perth city.

The centrally located Tomato Lake is part of the Tomato Lake Reserve, which includes wetlands and the surrounding open grass fields.  Facilities such as toilets, BBQs, picnic tables, car parks, and playgrounds are available in the reserve.

Boardwalk and Gazebo

There is a boardwalk across the lake leading to a gazebo in the middle of the lake.  The gazebo is a great spot for enjoying the views of a wide variety of birdlife on the water and the islands in the lake.  You should cross the lake using the boardwalk, doing this you will enjoy bird watching while you walk.

The flat walking path around the perimeter of Tomato Lake is approximately 1.6 km.

Outdoor Gym

There is an outdoor gym with fitness equipment for public use.  I like that this outdoor gym comes with very useful and informative general fitness exercise instructions and specific instructions for each of the fitness equipment.  So, feeling energised?  Try some fitness exercises.

Algae Bloom

I noticed a very significant algae bloom in the lake when I visited Tomato Lake on 29 Dec 20.   I hope the algae are harmless to the birdlife.
