Garvey Park
Garvey Park is a great location for a walk along the foreshore. Garvey Park has an open space grass area that is popular with the locals for a family gathering and picnic. Kids can play in the open grass area. There are plenty of car parking facilities available in Garvey Park.
Part of the open grass area is used as a horse exercise area, occasionally you can see people doing horse riding.
Garvey Park is home to Ascot Kayak Club. You often see people doing paddle sport on the river. Near the Ascot Kayak Club, a new beach with an access ramp and viewing deck is part of the riverbank project to enhance the appreciation of the Swan River.
Right in front of the beach is Ron Courtney Island, a small island on the Swan River.
If you walk in the Perth city direction along the Swan River foreshore you will come to Ayres Bushland. There is a boardwalk across the wetlands. Continue walking and you will arrive at Tonkin Highway Redcliffe Bridge. The distance between Ascot Kayak Club and Tonkin Highway Redcliffe Bridge is approximately 1km. The walking path is flat throughout.
Feeling more adventurous? You can try the Garvey Park Nature Walk Trail.
