The walk by the Swan River riverbank walking paths between Matagarup Bridge and Mardalup Reserve, via Claisebrook Cove, is an easy and pleasant walk on flat walking paths. If you start at Matagarup Bridge, you will walk past Arden Street Reserve and then around Claisebrook Cove before reaching Mardalup Reserve
The 2 km one-way walk offers scenic views of the Swan River, Optus Stadium, and Burswood Park across the Swan River.
Arden Street Reserve
Arden Street Reserve in East Perth is right next to Matagarup Bridge. The reserve is on a slope between Arden Street and the Swan River. Sit high up close to Arden Street and you’ll get a unique panoramic view of the Swan River, Optus Stadium, and Matagarup Bridge.
Claisebrook Cove
As you walk in the northern direction by the Swan River you will come to Victoria Gardens and Claisebrook Cove.
Walk around the inlet and you will be impressed by the stylish urban surrounds of Claisebrook Cove with waterfront apartments, bars, cafes, alfresco dining venues, beautifully landscaped gardens, walking paths, boardwalks, and a boat jetty. It is hard to imagine Claisebrook Cove was once a contaminated industrial land. What an excellent urban renewal success story!
Perth’s Little Ferry Company runs daily regular solar-electric ferry services between Claisebrook Cove boat jetty and Elizabeth Quay.
Mardalup Reserve
Continue walking around the inlet back to the Swan River and you will come to Mardalup Park. Mardalup Park is another ideal spot for picnics or rest points to sit, relax, and enjoy scenic views of the Swan River.
