Jeff Joseph Reserve
Jeff Joseph Reserve is a large reserve on the Applecross foreshore, a 25-minute drive south of Perth CBD.
The reserve has plenty of open space and stunning views of the widest section of the Swan River. From here, there are unblocked views of Kings Park and Perth CBD in the north, the foreshores of Attadale, Peppermint Grove, and Dalkeith in the west, and Como foreshore in the east across the Swan River.
The huge open space and plenty of parking make this reserve suitable for leisure activities, public recreation, and community events.
It is an enjoyable experience to walk or jog on the flat concrete walk path while admiring the beautiful views of the Swan River, and Perth CBD skyline across the Swan River from afar. You often see water sports enthusiasts enjoying boating, sailing, windsurfing, and even hydrofoiling on this part of the Swan River.
Applecross Jetty
Applecross Jetty is located within the Jeff Joseph Reserve. The jetty was constructed in 1897 as an early ferry stop on the Swan River. Today, this wooden jetty is a very popular fishing spot. You often see keen fishermen on the jetty.
Stand on the jetty and you will see Applecross foreshore and many beautifully-built waterfront mansions with a different perspective.
Point Dundas Boardwalk
The modern boardwalk wraps around Point Dundas and connects Jeff Joseph Reserve to Melville Beach Road.
From Heathcote Reserve, the one-way distance between Heathcote Reserve and Point Dundas boardwalk is around 1.5km. If you feel more energetic, you may walk south 600m more from Point Dundas boardwalk along the riverbank walk path to reach Melville Beach Road.
Applecross parkrun
Applecross parkrun, a free community-organised 5km run, takes place at Jeff Joseph Reserve every Saturday at 8:00 am. It is a great way to join in the run to keep fit. Check out the Applecross parkrun website for more information.
