Roma Street Parkland
The 16-hectare Roma Street Parkland is located within a short walk from Brisbane City.
Opened in 2001 after over 100,000 shrubs, 1200 mature trees, 1800 unique species of plants, and 250 ferns were planted, the Parkland is an inner-city green oasis built within a concrete jungle, an excellent getaway for people working in the Brisbane City.
The highlights for visitors and walkers to the Parkland have to be the contemporary Spectacle Garden, the water features that flow through Spectacle Garden into the man-made lake, the Amphitheatre, and the Celebration Lawn, which features a huge open lawn area with cascading water walls.
The parkland is open to the public 24 hours a day, apart from the Spectacle Garden which closes from dusk to dawn.
The Walk
There are many entry points to Roma Street Parkland, and you may start anywhere, walk any distance, and stop anywhere.
The walkers who love to walk by the waters will not want to miss walking through the cascading water walls, in the Spectacle Garden, on Allee Bridge connecting the Hub, and on Ferngully Bridge over the man-made lake.
However, walking paths connecting all the other parts of the Parkland are all worth exploring to see artworks, plants, and flowers that are so well-maintained by the Parkland’s staff and volunteers.
