Double Bay
Double Bay is a harbourside eastern suburb of Sydney located between 2 other coastal suburbs – Darling Point and Piper Point and is just about 4 km east of Sydney CBD. These beautiful coastal suburbs have some of the most expensive multimillion-dollar apartments in Sydney.
You can visit Double Bay by a 20-minute scenic ferry ride from Circular Quay. Double Bay foreshore has a ferry stop right next to Double Bay’s Steyne Park.
Steyne Park
The waterfront Steyne Park has beautiful Sydney Harbour water views. From Steyne Park, you can appreciate the beautiful coastlines of the adjacent Darling Point and Point Piper suburbs. Apartment blocks and houses in these suburbs are built to have the best view of Sydney Harbour water views.
Steyne Park caters to community sports such as hockey and cricket. The northern end of the park is used for sailboat rigging on weekends. The park is also where Double Bay Sailing Club is located.
The Walk
You may start your walk in Steyne Park, then walk on the Bay Street ferry stop jetty, and continue on the Double Bay Beach. Unfortunately, there are no coastal access walk paths connecting to the popular swimming spot Murray Rose Pool. You will have to take a detour away from the foreshore on New South Head Road to reach Murray Rose Pool.
Murray Rose Pool was previously named Redleaf Pool. It was renamed Murray Rose Pool in August 2012 in honour of Olympic swimmer Murray Rose.
The one-way distance between Steyne Park and Murray Rose Pool is about 1 km.
If you visit Double Bay on Thursday between 9 am and 2 pm, you may take a short 400m walk from Steyne Park along Bay Street away from the ferry stop to Guilfoyle Park to visit Double Bay Organic Food and Farmers Market.
