Perth’s iconic Swan River has many beautiful riverside parks and walking trails to explore if you like to have an easy walk close to nature and enjoy seeing the Swan River from different locations. The waterfront Burswood Park is one of Perth’s most popular parks to enjoy the scenic views of the Swan River, whether it is for a walk, a picnic or just to chill out.
Burswood Park
Located just a 5-minute drive from Perth CBD on the popular Burswood Peninsula, Burswood Park is a 53-hectare riverfront parkland on the banks of the Swan River. The park has many small lakes which are gathering points for birds and has many picnic spots with barbecues, freestanding gazebos, tables, and benches.
Burswood Park is well-known as a popular venue for many outdoor community and charity events such as markets, exhibitions, concerts, outdoor cinema, and fun runs.
The park has well-connected flat and sealed walking paths to link to Optus Stadium, South Perth, and East Perth via Matagarup Bridge, and offers an excellent walking experience for walkers of any level.
Matagarup Bridge
Opened to the public in July 2018, Matagarup Bridge is a pedestrian bridge connecting Burswood Peninsula to East Perth providing access from East Perth and Perth CBD to Optus Stadium and Burswood Park. The bridge’s structural shape is designed to look like two flying swans.
Notably, Matagarup Bridge has a total length of 900 m of LED lighting and can mathematically display 16 million different colour combinations. Visit the bridge on different nights to see the different light combinations.
