Guangzhou 广州 Zhujiang 珠江
Guangzhou, an important Chinese commercial capital with a history of more than two thousand years, was borne and thrived because of Zhujiang. Zhujiang flows through Guangzhou city, supplies water to its residents, creates its unique culture, and connects Guangzhou as the main port on the maritime Silk Road to the world.
Zhujiang has been the vein of Guangzhou city’s development. Many modern landmark buildings, such as Guangzhou Tower 广州塔, Guangdong Museum 广东省博物馆, Guangzhou Grand Theatre 广州大剧院, Guangzhou Library 广州图书馆, and Baietan Greater Bay Area Art Center 白鹅潭大湾区艺术中心 which houses Guangdong Museum of Art 广东美术馆, are on the banks of Zhujiang, and they are testaments to Guangzhou’s developmental success.
Going forward, Zhujiang will play an even more important role in Guangzhou’s future as part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area 粤港澳大湾区.
