Shenzhen 深圳
Shenzhen, China’s third largest city by population after Shanghai and Beijing, is a coastal city with a population of more than 17.5 million in southern China in Guangdong 广东 Province. As China’s first special economic zone, Shenzhen grew from a fishing village to an international metropolis in 40 years, an amazing high-speed growth success story.
To the south, Shenzhen is adjacent to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Shenzhen Bay 深圳湾 and Shenzhen River 深圳河 separate Shenzhen from Hong Kong.
Shenzhen is vibrant, innovative, and highly entrepreneurial. People from all over China come here to seek a better life and economic success.
It is estimated the city has about 30% of the skyscrapers in China today. Other than skyscrapers and luxury shopping malls, Shenzhen also has beautiful beaches and coastlines, theme parks, and many historical sites. The 17-line 398-station Shenzhen metro network has made travelling in Shenzhen metropolitan area very easy and efficient.
Shenzhen was named one of the “31 must-visit tourist destinations in the world” by the New York Times.
